  2. Place this mixture evenly  on greased 14 inches tray (preferably aluminium) and keep aside for 10 minutes
  3. Pre-heat the oven at 180 degrees
  4. Cut the  mixture into square or diamond shapes and place the halved almond or cashews in the center of the each piece.
  5. Bake it for 40-45 minutes till golden brown
  6. To prepare syrup, boil sugar and water till dissolved well
  7. Add lemon juice and rose essence, simmer syrup for 6-7 minutes
  8. When the basbousas are baked till golden brown, pour the sugar syrup when the cake is still hot
  9. Keep it at room temperature till it soaks all the syrup and cools down completely
  10. They are ready to be served….
